ECSEL-2018-2 (Research & Innovation Action)

NewControl overarching goal is to provide an industrially calibrated trajectory towards increased user-acceptance of automated driving control functions, through an approach that is centred on the premise of safety by design. The project aims to develop virtualised platforms for vehicular subsystems that are essential to highly automated driving (realizing functions such as perception, cognition and control), so as to enable mobility-as-a-service for next generation highly automated vehicles.

ITML leads an important part of the project which deals with the end-user acceptance and trust in automated driving functions (such as ethics, safety, security and privacy), which currently comprises a major obstacle for the commercialisation of fully autonomous vehicles.
