NewControl overarching goal is to provide an industrially calibrated trajectory towards increased user-acceptance of automated driving control functions, through an approach that is centred on the premise of safety by design.
The project aims to develop virtualised platforms for vehicular subsystems that are essential for highly automated driving (realizing functions such as perception, cognition and control), so as to enable mobility-as-a-service for next generation highly automated vehicles.
The role of ITML
ITML leads an important part of the project which deals with the end-user acceptance and trust in automated driving functions (such as ethics, safety, security and privacy), which currently comprises a major obstacle for the commercialisation of fully autonomous vehicles. In addition, ITML leads the technical Work Package concerning the design and development of embedded systems, computing platforms and algorithms, being active in the implementation of optimisation algorithms and software for predictive control and estimation based on Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques.
