Summary
The ‘DEC’ project aims to foster youth engagement for a safer environment and responsible use of ICT.
Project Objectives:
1. Achieving the Erasmus+ priorities of digital transformation
2. Fight against climate change
3. Participation in democratic life
The project aims at providing young people with the basic skills, attitudes and understanding, in order to engage effectively and responsibly in the digital society and be proficient in digital environments and social media. Young people, if they are fully aware of being digital citizens, will be ready to take action towards a safer environment by researching, debating and raising awareness over the challenges posed by the climate change and COVID-19 pandemic to the environment they are living in.
In that way, young people will not only understand the actual risks affecting their society, but at the same time, they will be able to develop their own competencies, connect with each other and share their thoughts, feelings, actions and ideas.
In addition, DEC plans to foster intergenerational dialogue to make young people’s voices heard. Through this activity, the participants will understand the value of dialogue and become empowered advocates and agents of change.
The role of ITML
ITML will show the risks encountered by the use of ICT, train young people, females and males between the ages 18-25, and enhance their digital skills, to be used in the future youth life (i.e., when searching for a job, or communicating something online).
In particular, ITML will lead the Online Youth Academy for Social Impact covering the digital domains which have been defined as underpinning the overall concept of digital citizenship: what does it mean to be online, assuring well-being online, the rights in an online environment, digital activism and digital influencing.
Additionally, ITML will communicate and disseminate the project’s outcomes to the scientific, industrial, and general public communities, as well as to the market/stakeholders and research community.
